Quitting chewing tobacco is hard, there is no way around it. But we have a system that works using accountability and support.

If you’re thinking about quitting, you’re in the right place. We are a community of quitters dedicated to helping others quit chewing, dipping, snuff and snus. We have an online quit dipping forum where all of our members interact, provide support, and quit. Membership and registration are completely free, and all are welcome to join and quit with us.

The first step to quitting chewing tobacco is making the decision to quit.  Making the decision can also be one of the hardest steps for some quitters. But once the decision has been made to start quitting chewing tobacco, its time to get started. Here at TheQuit.org we base the way we start quitting, and quit using nicotine in any form, on a small set of very basic principles. When these principles are implemented they are very effective. These principles and all the pertinent information is spelled out in our quit challenge.

The cornerstone of these principles is accountability, and that accountability is maintained by doing what we call ‘posting roll call’.

‘Posting Roll’ is a promise, your word given to our entire community and yourself to not use nicotine today. This promise is made by signing in with your quit group.  We sign-in both early and daily, taking nicotine off of the table so that we can go about our day knowing that we have given our word. Knowing that the only way that we can fail, is by breaking our word. As crazy as it may look from the outside looking in, it works.

Your quit group can be found on the forum. Keep in mind that in order to protect our members and their community, you must register an account on the forum to see this, and many others areas of the message boards. Your quit group is a collection of quitters that all quit in the same month and year. We put quitters into groups by month, and if you register for the forum and find the quit groups, you can find your group by looking underneath each and finding which one your quit day falls.

The day we quit around here, is today. It is the day that you quit chewing tobacco. The day that you put that poison in your body for the last time is Day 1. We don’t wait until midnight or even for a full 24 hours to post a Day 1. We spit it out, flush our stash and post roll.

From an outsiders perspective I can see how this can seem a bit crazy, but then again, so do so many of the other things in life that wind up meaning so much to us. Consider this an invitation to quit with us today. Head on over to the forum, the best place to start quitting chewing tobacco, post roll and start your own introduction and quit with us.
